We’re looking for a committed and compassionate Case Officer to join our Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire casework team. In this role, you’ll work directly with RBL beneficiaries across the region, offering practical support, clear advice, and steady guidance on a wide range of matters — from health and social care to employment, benefits, statutory services, and housing.
An opportunity to join the Royal British Legion’s Casework Services team, providing direct welfare support, advice, and guidance to beneficiaries across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, ensuring person-centred and integrated support solutions.
Our Casework Services team plays an important part in the work of the Royal British Legion, supporting members of the Armed Forces community to live more secure and fulfilling lives. Each year, we help around 12,000 people in the UK and overseas. By working closely with colleagues across the organisation and alongside a wide network of external partners, we make sure beneficiaries can access the right support, whatever their situation may be.
Build strong working relationships with other Legion teams locally — including Specialist Services, the Recovery team, Branch Community Support volunteers, care homes, and Remembrance colleagues — to make sure support is joined up and consistent.
Work closely with local welfare providers, taking the time to understand what each organisation offers so you can make informed referrals and ensure beneficiaries receive the right help at the right time.
Take the lead on managing casework, offering direct, practical support along with clear advice and guidance tailored to each beneficiary’s situation.
Talk beneficiaries through the support that may be available to them and help them navigate the process of accessing it.
Share insight and feedback with the Casework Services Manager and Head of Welfare to help them better understand local needs and shape future specialist services accordingly.
A supportive pension scheme with generous employer contributions between 6% and 10%, helping you plan confidently for the future.
28 days of paid annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service, and the option to purchase up to five additional days each year if you’d like a little extra time off.
Access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering confidential counselling, along with financial and legal advice whenever you might need it.
A variety of flexible working options (where the role allows), helping you find a balance that works for you.
Plenty of opportunities to grow, with courses delivered by learning specialists to support your personal and professional development goals.
Additional perks such as travel loans, a Cycle to Work scheme, and other practical benefits are designed to make everyday life a little easier.
This role is mainly home-based, but you’ll regularly travel across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire to meet with beneficiaries and attend local meetings. Because of this, you’ll need to live within a reasonable distance to travel comfortably around these areas. From time to time, there may also be some national travel required for training sessions or wider team meetings.
A valid UK driving licence is essential for this job. You will also need to pass a DBS check as part of the pre-employment checks. This check is a must before you start working with us. The DBS check is a process for many jobs. A UK driving licence is a requirement.
