To deliver high-quality primary and occupational healthcare in line with the standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC), ensuring both organisational goals and the Senior Medical Officer’s objectives are met, with patient care always at the forefront.
The General Practitioner should also have an appreciation of the values and standards upheld by the Armed Forces, supporting Service personnel in their day-to-day duties and contributing positively to the wider mission.
Work closely with the Practice Manager on all aspects of service administration to help the practice run smoothly.
Deliver day-to-day healthcare to all registered patients during standard practice hours.
Provide emergency primary care to anyone within the Establishment who needs urgent treatment.
Offer emergency care and complete accident reporting for MOD civilian staff when required.
Care for patients admitted to low-dependency wards, where applicable.
Promote and protect the health of Service personnel, supporting their wellbeing, fitness for duty, and overall employability to meet operational needs.
Oversee the management of communicable diseases, including proper monitoring and reporting through the relevant Service channels.
Maintain a good working knowledge of clinical governance and take an active role in upholding its standards.
Take part in clinical audits in line with both personal development goals and wider practice objectives.
Collaborate effectively with the wider primary healthcare team and line management to ensure coordinated patient care.
Stay familiar with major incident protocols and infectious disease outbreak plans to ensure readiness when needed.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK and listed on the GP Register, with a valid licence to practise. You should have completed General Practice Specialist Training and hold a Certificate of Completion of Training. Confidence in using electronic patient record systems is also essential, as accurate and efficient digital record-keeping forms a key part of day-to-day practice.
