Abernethy Barcaple is currently seeking an Outdoor Instructor to join its team in Castle Douglas, Scotland. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead outdoor adventure activities, support educational programmes, and contribute to a vibrant Christian community while working in one of the most scenic regions of the country.

Keep up to date with current developments in outdoor education and maintain links with relevant professional bodies.
Recommend suitable outdoor activity equipment purchases or replacements. Once these recommendations are approved by the Chief Instructor, place orders within the agreed budget.
Supervise and assist with the maintenance of outdoor education equipment and help manage the equipment inventory.
Ensure that logbooks are kept up to date by instructors and maintain your own record of current experience and competence in outdoor activities.
Make sure activity programmes operate with the correct and safe procedures at all times.
Contribute to the development of programmes offered by the Centre, including the John Muir Award and Duke of Edinburgh programmes.
Support the Chief Instructor with administrative tasks that are important for the smooth running of the department.
Deliver instruction and guidance to resident groups during their activity programmes.
Support the Chief Instructor and step in to deputise for them when they are absent.
