This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Senior Care Assistant to take on a leadership role within a supportive care home environment. Based at Beechville in Bolton, the role offers the chance to lead care shifts, support colleagues, and help deliver high-quality, person-centred care that enables older people to live with dignity, comfort, and respect.
We’re looking for an experienced and caring Senior Care Assistant to join our team at MHA. This is an important role within the home, where you’ll support the Home Manager and senior team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care. You’ll also play a big part in guiding, encouraging and developing the wider care team.
In this role, you’ll take the lead during shifts and step up when other senior colleagues are unavailable. By setting a positive example, you’ll help ensure care is delivered safely and effectively, while creating a warm, respectful environment where residents feel valued, comfortable and able to live with dignity.
Guide and support care and ancillary staff, helping them build their skills, grow in confidence and consistently meet the expected standards.
Work alongside the Home Manager to meet all legal, regulatory and organisational requirements, keeping records accurate and supporting audits when required.
Contribute to care planning and key working, and help create meaningful activities that genuinely enrich residents’ daily lives.
Step up to run the home when senior colleagues are away, making sure everything continues to operate safely and smoothly day to day.
Administer medication safely and responsibly in line with the Medication Policy when this duty is delegated to you.
Carry out or assist with regular one-to-one meetings, supervisions and appraisals, ensuring team members feel supported and clear about their goals.
Stay flexible and willing to cover care shifts, take part in on-call duties, and attend occasional meetings or training sessions as needed.
Long service awards to recognise and celebrate the commitment and contribution you make over time.
A full induction when you join, along with ongoing training, recognised qualifications and clear opportunities to progress in your career.
Access to a range of discounts through the Blue Light Card, Health Service Discounts and the Vivup app, helping you save on everyday spending.
Confidential counselling services, chaplaincy support and access to a hardship fund if you ever need extra support.
Free DBS checks and uniforms, so you don’t have to worry about additional setup costs.
A strong pension scheme and life assurance for added peace of mind about your future.
28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), pro-rata for part-time colleagues, with the option to purchase additional annual leave if you wish.
We’re looking for someone who has previous experience working in a care setting and feels confident stepping up to lead a shift or deputise for a manager when needed. You should be comfortable administering medication and have solid IT skills, including using email and basic office systems for record-keeping and communication. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important, as you’ll be working closely with residents, families and colleagues.
The ideal candidate will be able to lead, motivate and support a team, while showing genuine sensitivity to the needs of older people and promoting an inclusive, person-centred approach to care. A Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or an equivalent qualification) would be an advantage, but we’re equally open to someone willing to work towards achieving it.
